I started practicing yoga as a New Year’s Resolution in January of 2014, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It is a practice that has taught me more about myself than anything else in my life. Now, I want to take the next step and get certified as a 200-hour registered yoga teacher. I want to share this powerful and inspiring practice with others. Too often I hear people say they could never do yoga because they aren’t flexible. Yoga isn’t for the flexible; it’s for the willing. It is a practice where you strive for progress, not perfection. It helps everyone in a different way. When I first started yoga I was recovering from a skiing injury in my shoulder. I reached a point where I thought nothing but surgery could help it. I had persistent pain and would sometimes struggle to lift my arm at all. After practicing yoga for a few weeks the pain started to lessen. Now, only a year later, I have virtually no pain and I attribute it to my daily yoga practice.
I’ve set my sights on becoming a yoga teacher because I want to help people overcome challenges in their own lives, be it physical or emotional. I want to help people realize their potential. I feel that there is such a fad now with people wanting the yoga body, and while the practice is extremely beneficial for the body, I think the yoga mind is a much more important and powerful thing. I want to help people get rid of that voice in their head that says, “I can’t.” Everyone in this world has so much potential; sometimes they just need a little help finding it. Yoga has done such incredible things for me in my life that I want to share it with others.
After receiving my 200 hr certification, I plan to pursue certifications to teach hot yoga and restorative yoga. Additionally, I plan to incorporate essential oils into my classes, which have also been proven to help the mind and body. Sometimes I feel like I can’t talk enough about how much yoga has done for me. It is something I am so passionate about that I just know I have to find a way to share it with others. Even the smallest donation is greatly appreciated. To those who took the time to read my whole story I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I promise you a free spot in one of my classes as soon as I’m certified!
