Layla Marie Lopez Fund

Layla was born on July 26th, 2016 and unlike most mothers I did not get to hold my baby after she was born, I barely got to take a look at her before they ran off with her to NICU because she was born with a Congenital Heart Defect known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. This means that the left side of her heart did not develop properly and is too small to function the way it should.  Then we found out that she had bleeding in her brain which made the doctors wary of surgery and so they pushed it off in fear they might make the bleeding in her brain worse. Then she had a blood clot in her neck and so the surgery got pushed off again. At 8 weeks old she has already had 2 surgeries; a small surgery called a PA Banding where they restrict the amount of oxygen that goes to her lungs so that the rest of her body would get enough oxygen, and on Sept. 7th she had her first open-heart surgery where they rearranged parts of her heart so that the right side could do all the work. She will have a second open-heart surgery at 6 months of age and then a third open-heart surgery between the ages of 3 & 4 years old. At some point in the future she may or may not need a heart transplant depending on how well her own heart does. Our daughter has been living in the hospital since she was born, she doesn't yet know what her home looks like but we are hoping that she will recover quickly so we can finally take her home but then come the bills that we cannot afford and hopefully that is where all of you come in. We need as much help as we can get to be able to pay for these surgeries that our baby girl needs.
