ROLL OUT THE YOGA MATS FOR KIDS
Spirit of Yoga / Southwest Institute of Healing Arts has partnered with the Laveen Elementary School system to support the launch of their Mindfulness program. We are helping to raise funds to purchase Yoga Mats for the kids Mindfulness Program. Spirit of Yoga is going to match whatever funds to purchase 100 yoga mats. Your donation of $10.00 will purchase a mat that will be presented at the school in March.
FACTS: Laveen Elementary School has launched a Mindfulness Program in an effort to teach students the benefits of effective breathing, meditation, and yoga. Instead of ‘detention’ the children have the option to spend time in the Mind-Body-Spirit Room.
Before school three days a week, students are invited to participate in a 15 minute yoga movement and meditation session and five minute breathing exercise. "We believe practicing yoga before the school day helps our children perform at their optimal level, both inside and outside of the classroom," said Laveen teacher and Mindfulness coordinator Gavin Tucker. "Participants understand they hold the key to becoming the best version of themselves starting from within."
The school currently does not have the budget to provide mats for the kids – they are making due with used athletic mats!
Our hope is your will be moved to support of Rolling Out the Yoga Mats For Kids – either helping to purchase new yoga mats or by bring your gently used yoga mats to Spirit of Yoga no later than March 1, 2017. If you have questions please call Will Zecco at [email redacted]
