My sister Laurie Robison is a single mom living in Lawrenceville, Georgia with her 14-year-old son Matthew.
On September 24, Matthew was involved in a devastating car crash. He was thrown from the vehicle and initially, we were not sure if he was going to survive. After multiple brain surgeries and a long stay at the Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, we are incredibly grateful Matthew is on the road to recovery . Unfortunately, besides his brain injury, Matthew has lost permanent sight in one eye, complete hearing in one ear as well as fractured vertabrae in his spine. His injuries require extensive rehabilitation. Recovery will be a long road.
Laurie works tirelessly as a social worker for children who have been rescued from human trafficking at Georgia Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries, Inc. Anyone who knows my sister knows that she has dedicated her life to helping others. But Laurie has been on unpaid medical leave from her job caring for Matthew 24/7 since the accident and currently has no income. Of course, our family is helping as much as we can, but even with health insurance, the hospital bills have piled up at an astronomical rate. Now she and Matthew are facing a long and expensive rehabilitation.
Laurie's friend Colleen had previously established a gofundme account to help Matthew, and if you have already donated please know that Laurie greatly appreciates all the support, as do I and the rest of the extended Robison family.
Any money raised by this campaign will go directly to Laurie, and she will use it to help cover her ongoing costs, mainly Matthew's medical expenses.
Thank you in advance for helping my sister!
