My name is Brittany, on September 3, 2015, my best friend; Laura Erwin was in a near fatal car accident in Fremont California. Laura's picture is posted above she is to the left to her sister Sarah . Laura has sustained life-threatening injuries and is in a medically induced coma due to a traumatic brain injury and will remain in this state for weeks while her injury is healing. My goal is to raise funds to aid in Laura’s recovery and help with her medical expenses that are going to be extremely costly for her parents. Laura is an inspiration to all who know her and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Laura has the ability to find the positive aspects of even the most difficult situations. Laura is genuine in her kindness toward others, and her warm and compassionate heart is the reason she is loved by so many.
Graduating from Moreau Catholic High School in 2010, Laura is an advocate for education and was only six months away from receiving her degree in Biology at California State University East Bay. Laura inspired all to her friends to work hard and achieve their dreams, her support and encouragement for doing so, truly make her an exceptional person. Laura’s commitment to her education is an example for all who strive for excellence, as she was the epitome of a hard-working student working toward accomplishing her goal, which was to teach at Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward California where she is currently a swim coach and assistant chemistry teacher. Laura has a passion for hiking, traveling, cooking, and singing. She is kind and caring and always tries to make sure each member of her family and all her friends feel special and know she is devoted to them.
As her friend, I am witnessing the challenges Laura’s family is facing. This past week has been unbearable for her family and the love they have for her is immeasurable. Laura’s Mother, Linda, will undoubtedly take a significant amount of time off of work, or even quit altogether, to stay home and take care of Laura, as the Doctors are telling us her recovery could take years. The uncertainty is heart-breaking and watching her family suffer during this time is unbearable. Laura’s older sister, Sarah, left her job as a nurse, in Southern California to be here for her sister, and I know Sarah is not planning on going home until Laura’s recovery has begun but once she does go home, Sarah will be commuting here from Orange County to be with Laura on the weekends, which is another cost I would l to alleviate. I am respectfully inviting you to please help me in my quest to make the lives of Laura’s family members less burdensome while they dedicate themselves to her recovery. All profits that's are made and not used will be donated to a charity for families of Laura's choice when she wakes up. Thank you .
