Villanova University Social Justice Documentary

Donation protected
Hello everyone! We are Last Letter Films, a student-run production company that is part of Villanova University's Social Justice Documentary Program. In prior years, this program has created student academy award-winning documentaries that have made large positive impacts in communities all over the world.

We have created a documentary focused on the resilience and pride of the Afro-Puerto Rican culture and community. A legacy of slavery and colonialism in Puerto Rico has embedded anti-Blackness into the landscape, manifesting as the nationalized Mestizaje narrative, the erasure of Black identity, and the segregation of Afro-descendant communities. Through our documentary, we aim to bring global awareness to these social, psychological, and physical racial injustices in Puerto Rico.

We filmed our documentary in October for 2 weeks in Loiza, Puerto Rico, and are premiering our documentary on April 28th, 2022. We are looking for donors to help support our mission of spreading the stories of our collaborators and supporting our social justice initiative. We are currently partnering with Centro Communal La 23, a community center in Loíza, Puerto Rico which aims to empower the youth to create a better future for their community.

Any donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you for your support!
