Larry Adams' Fight For Life

Donation protected

Aloha Friends and Family,

With a heavy but hopeful heart, we are reaching out to you to help us give our dad, Larry, the trip of a lifetime during the fight to save his life.

For those of you who don't personally know our dad, meet Larry Adams...
A husband of 30 years and a father of three (including his golden retreiver). A stubborn, witty, sarcastic sports fanatic. Giving, loving, optomistic and hardworking resident of Maui for 35 years with over 40 years of dedication in commerical paint sales.

Over the past year our lives have taken a complete turn. After a routine doctor's visit our dad was referred to the dermatologist for skin discoloration on the top of his head. A byopsy was done and the results were Stage IV Melanoma.
In October 2014 he was flown to The Queen's Medical Center and underwent a five hour long procedure to remove melanoma from the top of his head as well as a lymph node right below it that also lit up as melanoma. A skin graph was taken from his thigh to cover the large area on his head removed. We were hopeful things would be smooth sailing from there.

January 2015 we find out the melanoma has spread from the top of his ear to the nape of neck. With the procedure being high risk and unable to be done in Hawai'i, we flew to UC Davis Medical Center where an Otalaryngologist (head & neck surgeon) performed another lengthy surgery to remove the melanoma and sentinel node. After 5 days in the hospital with drain tubes in his neck, we were ready to go home .

On Maui we visisted a medical oncologist suggested by the surgeon at UC Davis. In February 2015 he started Interferon ('chemo' for skin cancer) daily and administered his own shots 3x a day. I have never seen my dad like that. It broke my heart.

May 2015 we are back at Maui Memorial to remove another trace of melanoma near his same ear. At a follow up appointment the doctors felt it a good idea to give him a CT scan to see if the melanoma was gone. A mass was found in his colon. Surgery to remove the mass was done in June 2015. During the surgery the doctors noticed an abnormalty on his back. A byopsy was done proving to be melanoma and was removed in July 2015. Once more a CT is done to follow up and the results have come back that there is a mass in his bladder that is scheduled to be removed this month.

Through all of this, Larry Adams has been nothing short of a superhero. He is taking things step by step and has told us that he is going to fight. With all of this bad news we want to give him something postive to look forward to that he has dreamt of his whole life.

Please help us cover the costs of medical expenses and to take a little break from all of this and send him and his wife to Australia to make his dream a reality. Anything helps and if you've ever been Down Under we'd love to hear of some great places to visit!

Mahalo and please keep Larry in your prayers for his upcoming surgeries and for a little bit of good news!
