My brother, Larry Fine, needs your support. What started as something simple—issues with his vision—quickly turned into something much more serious. Larry went to the eye doctor thinking he may just need a new prescription, but instead, they found bleeding behind his eyes and immediately sent him to Tampa General Hospital. Once he checked I to the ER, things escalated quickly. Larry was diagnosed with a hypertensive crisis, his blood pressure extremely high. From there, doctors discovered even more serious conditions—his kidneys are in Stage 5 failure, he will need a transplant , and his heart has been diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis. He spent 4 days in ICU, and 4 more in a step down unit. He was released and now has many doctor’s appointments to attend. He cannot drive because his vision is still poor.

As his sister, it is incredibly hard to see him go through this. Larry is someone who has always worked hard and never asked for help, but right now, he truly needs support, Because of how serious his condition is, Larry will be out of work for the foreseeable future while he focuses on his health and treatment plan. To make things even more difficult, Larry does not have health insurance. The hospital is currently helping us begin the process of applying for disability, but that approval can take time—and the medical bills are already adding up.
