Lane's Pancreas & Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
Lane was diagnosed with stage 4 CKD 10 months ago.  This disease has since progressed to ESRD (end stage renal disease) which means without a kidney transplant he will not survive. He currently has dialysis 3 days a week while waiting for his transplant.

Lane was always on the go, enjoying life riding his Harley or playing poker with his friends, spending time with his family and wife of 32 years.

All this changed with a simple lab test everything was different.  Lane was no longer able to go to a job he loved with the Elkhart County Sheriff's department, he had 11 years in and was looking forward to his retirement. The county has granted him special leave until June of 2016 in hopes he has his transplant and can return to work.

March 31, 2015 was the last day he was able to work.  Leaving him no choice but to go on disability.  We are grateful he was approved however, he had to be out of work 6 months for the condition in which he would receive disability prior to any payment being made.

During those 6 months Lane was in and out of the hospital numerous times (I think to date we have 17 visits between ER and Hospital stays), the last being the 20th of November when we thought we were going to lose him as he went into diabetic ketoacidosis (nobody ever wants to hear a Doctor say "what means do you want us to take to save his life") and spent 4 days in ICU then was transferred to the renal unit for several days.

Not to mention the expenses of the Nephrologist and Endocrinologist he has to see as well as monthly blood work.   We thought since he had Veterans benefits( 10 years in the Air Force serving in desert storm) we would be receiving help with his medical care, however we were incorrect the VA has denied his bills stating since we had insurance coverage through the county they would not help us.  Well with a 5000.00 deductible and 10% it does not take long for the medical bills to pile up.

While it is hard to ask for financial help the medications and co-pays have put us in a financial hardship.  We exhausted our savings during the 6 months waiting on disability.  And the medical bills continue with dialysis 3 days weekly,  and the cost of the transplant has not even been presented as of yet .  This disease has been both mentally and physically challenging as his muscles have atrophied to the point he now needs a walker, however Lane is a fighter and is not giving up.

Lane has completed all the medical testing to be placed on the pancreas and kidney transplant list and is currently #7 on the list, we have been told it could happen as soon as 6 months.

If you are able to make any donation no matter the size we will be so grateful, this is so important I want my loving husband around for at least another 32 years as well as his sister's and brother's and his mother and all other family members & friends want many more years with him.

Please help us to help him.  If you are unable to donate please keep him in your prayers and share this with others.

Special thanks to Mark, Lane's brother for helping put this together.
