Study Abroad in Jordan for Lamine
Donation protected
I am a student majoring in International Studies with a concentration in the Middle East and North Africa. This requires me to take six semesters of Arabic in a row. As a third year transfer student coming into Colorado State University, following this plan would extend my projected graduation date from May 2017 to May 2018. Arabic courses are not offered in summer sessions; therefore to avoid extending my time at CSU, I must participate in an intensive Arabic study abroad program. I have been accepted to participate in a program for summer 2016 in Amman, Jordan from June 5th to July 29th. The program will give me the equivalent credits of a year in Arabic. I am a recipient of prestigious scholarships and hold positions in student organizations as a Vice President in the Muslim Student Association, Campus Liaison in Global Ambassadors program, and membership in Africans United and United Men of Color as well as volunteering as a cultural speaker with professors.
Besides my graduation goal, I have always wanted to learn and developed the dream of teaching in the international relations field and one day serving in the betterment of people's lives, especially when it comes to intercultural communications and exchange. With Arabic, I hope to one day work for the United Nations and help bring peace through dialogue and understanding of cultures in the Middle East and North Africa. I believe that cross cultural understanding will bring peace to the Middle East which as a result will spread peace around the world. I am committed to a career enabling me to give back to a community that has always been there for me. I am looking forward to following my dreams, serving people and acting as a role model to others.
I am thankful for any amount of your support in advance. My name is Lamine (Al Ameen in Arabic), which means the trustworthy. I invite you to trust me with your investment as you will not regret it.
