Support Lakota Youth on 400-mile ride to Little Bighorn MT
Donation protected
Hau Mitakuyapi (My Relatives), my name is Kermit Jumping Eagle. I am Lakota from the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. As President of the Wakiyan Wakpa Youth Horsemanship Foundation, I am requesting funds to support our Native youth as they embark on a nearly 400-mile journey on horseback from their homes in South Dakota to the Little Bighorn Battlefield in Montana to honor and remember the sacrifices our ancestors made 149 years ago.
Update 6/19/25
The ride has expanded in size as more young people have joined. It is our mission to welcome them and offer this opportunity to native youth. We have increased our fundraising goals to reflect the added expense of the larger group. We are deeply grateful for the support we have received, and thank all those who have shared this page with others.
Our goal is to raise $5000 to fulfill the following needs:
Gasoline for three vehicles with trailers: $2000
Food for fourteen riders: $2500
Coggins Test and Brand Inspection Fee to allow horses to cross state lines: $500
