UPDATE: I'm needing to raise $4,500 more by Jan 1st to pay off the fall term. I've figured out my finances to pay for the rest of my schooling on my own. Not receiving financial aid put me in a hole and I would hate for this to stop my successes!

Hello everyone! My name is LaTasha LeShay. I proudly identify as a Black & Asian woman of color, a new mom, and am the 1st in my family to pursue a Master's Degree (neither of my parents finished college). I’m currently in Portland State’s Masters Social Work full-time program while working full time in a PPS High School as the QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Provider). How often in Portland do you see Black women, Asian women in this role????

Once I am finished with my MSW I'll be working on my SSWL & LCSW (School of Social Work License and Licensed Social Work) so that I can develop my own practice and program!
To me, my job goes beyond individualized support. I have made it my job to de-stigmatize mental health in the BIPOC, especially in Black and brown communities. It is also showing my daughter that she can do whatever she sets her mind to!
Life has been extremely hard for everyone during this past year+. For me, this last year+ has been filled with a lot of grief, hurt, and reexamining my purpose. Being a mom has reminded me to remember what I deserve, to not give up, put my pride/ego aside, and lean on my community.
I got into this work because I want to do my part in creating a world I, my daughter, WE deserve to live in.
Thank you in advance for your support, I am forever grateful <3
