2026 Commemoration of La Matanza: Support 94 Years of Indigenous Resistance
Who We Are
Organized by Nantzin Juliana Ama De Chile, the José Feliciano Foundation, and the Consejo Indigena Torogoz of Southern California, and other partners.
Why We Gather
We are raising funds to honor the 94th anniversary of La Matanza—the 1932 ethnocide in Kuxkatan (El Salvador). Each year, we remember Tata Feliciano Ama, an Indigenous leader of the Tecpan Itzalku (Izalco) Nawat People, whose call to defend our communal lands and dignity cost him his life. His courage continues to guide our work and lives on through these annual commemorations.
Why Your Support Matters
Our elders and survivors grow fewer each year. Many ancestors were lost without proper burial, and their stories live on only through our oral traditions. We remember our ancestors at a sacred site where one of the largest communal graves is located. By supporting this event, you help preserve our histories, languages, and cultural practices for future generations.
