Hello Englewood Family!
Our names are Zackarie Lemelle, Michael Yi, and Virge Ramos and we are running for the Englewood School Board this upcoming election and we would really love to have your support! Our primary role, should we be elected, is to be the voice and champion for the students we serve. We believe that the Englewood Public School District deserves a school board that will invite everyone to the table, meet you with transparency and honesty, and represent your interests. Our students deserve a standard of education that will allow them to not just survive, but to thrive and succeed in today’s digital era. Working with the superintendent and our fellow board members, and our community, the Lemelle-Yi-Ramos slate has the passion, knowledge, and competency to make this a reality. The following is a quick profile of us that we individually wrote ourselves so that you can get a better feel for who we are.
Zackarie Lemelle: I’m a retired corporate information technology executive from a Fortune 50 company. For the past ten (10) years, I’ve been CEO of New Hope Coaching & Consulting, an executive coach and team leadership firm. I’m also the past Chair/Co-founder of the Global Leadership Forum, a national organization dedicated to increasing black and brown youth in STEM, a former Executive-In-Residence at North Carolina Central University and the founder and former Chair of the African American and Latinx Employee Resource Groups at a large healthcare company and the past Chair of the Information Technology Senior Management Forum, a national organization dedicated to personal and professional development. I have 7 children and 8 grandchildren. I have dedicated my life to working with youth of all ages. I want to bring that experience and passion on behalf of the students of Englewood.
Michael Yi: The early years of my career was spent in the field of Nuclear Medicine running PET/CT scans on cancer patients. In 2015, I left the medical industry to pursue my passion for pastoral ministry. Currently in life, I play many roles including, pastor, counselor, and an emotional health educator. However, I believe that none of my roles are more important than as a father and husband. I am husband to a wonderful woman named Olivia and together we are raising our 6-year-old son Markus, who will be attending first grade at Greico Elementary this fall, and our 4-year-old daughter Evelyn, who will be attending Pre-K at Quarles Elementary. I am passionate about providing them with a quality education that will not only be important in their academic achievement, but one that will be useful in the digital future to come. I hope to bring that same passion for every student in the Englewood Public School District.
Virge Ramos: I’m a middle school special educator committed to championing change that supports all of our students. I grew up in Queens, NY, and am a product of the urban education system where I work today. I have worked in the NYC Department of Education for 18 years, first serving as the Director of School Culture at a high school in Queens, NY, where I supported students through counseling, organizing after school activities and the sports program. I am a full-time special-education teacher in the Bronx, NY. My commitment to my students extends outside of the classroom, where I combine my passion for sports and student outreach as a softball and basketball coach. Perhaps my greatest supporters are my encouraging partner, Elvira, and our two children, Esias-(a 4th grader)- and Nayla- (a 2nd grader), who will both be attending Greico Elementary in the fall. It is partly for my children that I’m committed to rebuilding an education system that advocates for each individual student, that prioritizes their individual choices and experiences, and supports them in this ever-changing world.
Now that you've gotten to know us, would you please help us reach our financial goal of $5000 by donating to our campaign? A campaign is very expensive to run. It requires the help of consultants, experts, campaign materials, and other miscellaneous costs, which can total up to $20,000 or more. It is only by partnering with you that we will be able to afford to run a campaign of this magnitude. Would you be willing to make a donation and help us reach our financial goal of $5000?
Sincerely,
Zackarie (5), Michael (6), and Virge (7)
