LWCC - Annual Fundraising Drive

Tax deductible
Lake Wylie Children’s Charity (LWCC) has been a much-needed support system for local families and children going through unspeakable hardship. We got our start when a serious, life-threatening illness touched the life of one of our own—a child with cancer living right here in the Lake Wylie area. We saw how the disease affected the child, but more than that we saw how day-to-day living expenses and healthcare costs left the parents facing financial hardships. Local volunteers and businesses in the community decided not to stand for it, and set to work planning a fundraising concert to bring in some money for this struggling family.

That was 13 years ago.

Since then, we have continued to identify and help children in the area who are fighting cancer or some other serious or potentially life threatening disease. The fundraising concert remains our main annual event, but we have grown – holding poker “fun runs,” pie throw challenges, grow a beard/shave your head contests, golf tournaments, lake/boating games, and other fundraisers to bring in support and help more children year-round.

Our goal is to offset the financial struggles of families facing major life changes, and also to let them know that they are not alone.

For 2015, our concert will benefit Jaxon Clark and Kelsey Funderburk. Jaxon is a vivacious, energetic four-year-old who has an incurable illness called MPS II/Hunter’s Syndrome; Kelsey is a beautiful and passionate 14-year-old with an inoperable brain tumor. Both of these children are incredibly brave in the face of adversity, and Lake Wylie Children’s Charity stands with them and with their families.
