Hand in Hand/ De mano a mano

"You never know what you have until you lose it".
Yasmin Cruz- Lynn English High School 2015
On December 4, 2015, a deadly fire took the lives of 4 members of the Cruz family,  Two additional family members were hospitalized and 18 people were displaced from their homes.   Yasmin Cruz,  a member of the LEHS class of 2015, lost her life in the fire.  Her beloved sister is a member of the LEHS class of 2016.  Third floor residents included 3 current and former LEHS class members.  Fortunately, they escaped the fire but were left homeless and loss all of their belongings.
All students emigrated to the United States during their schooling years.  Their perservance, positive attitudes, and determination has lead to their success in learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, and obtaining academic success, while overcoming adversity.  As Yasmin stated in her yearbook quote, "you never know what you have until you lose it".  Given this,  we know that we have lost a beautiful soul, but we have gained valuiable insight and reinforcement into understanding what truly matters.  Please consider donating to help both families secure housing and necesities as a base upon which they can begin to rebuild their lives, as soon as possible.
