Politically Active Kids is an educational organization geared towards educating students on social issues that impact their communities. We work to educate the youth on how to both become civically engaged and advocate for policy change. Based in the Los Angeles area, the volunteers here at PAK are dedicated towards creating impactful changes to the students and the communities they live in. To kick start our pilot program year we're starting off by throwing a Backpack Drive for the scholars in the South Los Angeles community! Although schools will continue virtually in the next few weeks we want to be sure our scholars are staffed with as many tools as possible to engage with teachers and classmates online.
In a regular school setting, many students in underserved communities rely on teachers or schools to provide many of the tools they'll be utilizing to engage in learning activities. With virtually learning coming into effect this school year, students will need to provide their own materials at home to continue engaging virtually. Many students will soon receive packets of work that will align with online lectures given by teachers. PAK has taken it upon our selves to help provide useful tools for our scholars!
With every backpack our scholars will be receiving the following items to encouraged the continued virtual engagement of their education : Two 3-subject Notebooks, Two Folders, 100 count Loose paper, 5pack No. 2 Pencils, Washable Markers, Colored Pencils, Pencil Sharpener, Eraser, Glue Stick, 3 Count Highlighter Pack, Scissors, Calculator, Pencil Pouch, Ruler, and Index Cards. As a treat we're throwing in fidget spinners for every backpack for all of our scholars to help improve performance on attention to tasks.
As we continue striving to give back to our communities we'll continue highlighting social issues and doing our part to break them down. Now more than ever there is a societal need to make education more equitable. The educational system throughout LA is in grave need of help and support in many ways. By your donation you can make a difference in the lives of a low income family and the scholars within them; the ripples created by your generous donations will soon create a tidal wave of change.
Thank you for all of your continued generous contributions, thoughts, prayers and love as we strive to make changes in the world we've inhabited.
