Help Me Access Alternative Cancer Recovery Care After Chemo

Hi everyone,

A few months ago, I was diagnosed with aggressive lymph node cancer at the age of 29. Everything happened so fast that I barely had time to understand what was going on, let alone what would come next.

One of the hardest parts has been the financial reality. Dutch healthcare covers a lot, but unfortunately, insurance doesn’t support everything. I’m currently unemployed and mostly dependent on the help of a few close friends and family. The sickness benefit barely covers my living costs, and things have become very tight financially.

I really don’t like asking for help.. and least of all for money. It’s just not who I am. But at this point, I’ve come to accept that I can’t do everything alone. Every bit of support, emotional or financial makes a real difference right now.

What I'm Raising Money For

Once my chemo cycles are done at the end of July, I want to start a specialized alternative care program to support my recovery. This is not just a wellness add-on. It’s a custom-tailored program for young people with cancer, based on factors like age, type of cancer, and treatment history. It includes things like CBD therapy, nutritional guidance, immune support, and mental recovery, all designed to rebuild the body after chemo.

Sadly, the entry fee is €2000 for JUST the first three-month package... which I currently cannot afford. Every euro donated will go directly toward covering this program. And all and every euro beyond that will go towards continuing that very same program. End goal would be a year but that is very wishful thinking hahaha

Research Involvement

I will also be taking part in the COMPRAYA study—a national Dutch research initiative focused on the increasing number of cancer cases in young adults. This project is helping build better long-term care options for people like me.

Help mij toegang krijgen tot alternatieve herstelzorg na chemo

Hoi allemaal,

Een paar maanden geleden werd bij mij op 29-jarige leeftijd agressieve lymfeklierkanker vastgesteld. Alles ging zo snel dat ik nauwelijks de tijd had om te beseffen wat er aan de hand was, laat staan wat er daarna zou komen.

Een van de moeilijkste dingen is de financiële realiteit geweest. De Nederlandse zorgverzekering dekt veel, maar helaas niet alles. Ik ben momenteel werkloos en afhankelijk van de hulp van een paar dierbare vrienden en familie. De ziektewetuitkering dekt amper mijn vaste lasten, en financieel is het allemaal erg krap geworden.

Ik vind het echt moeilijk om hulp te vragen... en al helemaal om geld. Dat past gewoon niet bij wie ik ben. Maar op dit punt heb ik geaccepteerd dat ik het niet allemaal alleen kan. Elke vorm van steun emotioneel of financieel maakt nu echt een verschil.

Waar ik geld voor inzamel

Zodra mijn chemokuren eind juli afgerond zijn, wil ik beginnen met een gespecialiseerd alternatief herstelprogramma om mijn lichaam en geest te ondersteunen. Dit is niet zomaar een ‘wellness-extra’. Het is een op maat gemaakt traject speciaal voor jonge mensen met kanker, afgestemd op leeftijd, type kanker en behandelgeschiedenis. Denk aan therapieën zoals CBD, voedingsbegeleiding, ondersteuning van het immuunsysteem en mentale herstelzorg – alles gericht op het opbouwen van het lichaam na chemo.

Helaas is het instaptarief €2000 voor alleen al het eerste traject van drie maanden... iets wat ik momenteel niet kan betalen. Elke euro die wordt gedoneerd gaat rechtstreeks naar dit programma. En elke euro daarboven wordt gebruikt om datzelfde programma voort te zetten. Het uiteindelijke doel zou zijn om het een jaar te kunnen volgen maar dat is nog vrij optimistisch, haha.

Onderzoeksparticipatie

Daarnaast neem ik deel aan de COMPRAYA studie. Een nationaal Nederlands onderzoeksproject dat zich richt op de groeiende groep jonge mensen met kanker. Dit project helpt bij het ontwikkelen van betere langetermijn zorg voor mensen zoals ik.

Als je in de positie bent om financieel bij te dragen, zou ik daar ontzettend dankbaar voor zijn. Zelfs een kleine donatie helpt al om deze herstelzorg mogelijk te maken. Maar voel je alsjeblieft niet verplicht! Het zijn voor iedereen moeilijke tijden, en ik begrijp het volledig als je niets kunt geven. Alleen al het delen van dit bericht met vrienden, collega’s, via social media of gewoon een lief berichtje sturen, dat betekent al meer dan je denkt.
