A couple months ago Melissa and Kyle received terrible news. Here is their post:
Friends and family,
How did we get here? The year started so perfect....getting married to my best friend, our romantic engagement, the perfect Brooklyn wedding, in the perfect wedding space, a great wedding package...it seemed perfect (in retrospect - too perfect). And then I learned....
I was on the bus on my way home from work as usual, casually checking my Facebook page, when I saw a Facebook group message - BRIDES WHO BOOKED REBAR. I clicked the link "if you planned a wedding at Rebar, you just lost your location and money." There was no way, I couldn't believe it. Was this a bad joke? But the more I read.... I felt sick. Then thoughts raced through my head, "OMG, we paid in full", "that was all our savings", "who would do that to another human being", "Why is this happening?" As I read more, I realized I was not alone. This criminal had cheated over 80 couples out of their money, destroyed their dream wedding day and left all of us with distrust and financial stress.
We still plan on getting married in September and it will still be a special day. But I never thought we would experience, "for worse" before the vows. The only positive I could hold onto was that we were in this together.
So today, I try to remember the good in people and realize that all I need is friends and family to help us recreate a perfect wedding. We are working on it and I know it will be great. Together, we will celebrate the good in life and make happy memories at a new wedding location.
