Hi, my name is Krystina Jackson
On January 6th 2002 while snowboarding with friends and family, I suffered a neck injury that left me paralyzed from the chest down. It took me months before I could breath well enough to speak and years before regained some feeling and movement in my arms.

For the last 13 years, along with the support of my friends and family, I’ve battled to regain the ability to walk but now I’m reaching out to you to help me raise $96,200 for physical therapy to get back on my feet.

On Monday March 23rd 2015 for the first time since my snowboarding accident, I was able to take steps with the help of a machine called the Lokomat created by a company called Hocoma.

Lokomat is a robotic device that gave me a chance to walk with assistance while giving me constant feedback on the monitors. At one point I visualized the scene from Forest Gump when the bullies got on there bikes and went after Forest and Jenny yells to him ‘’Run, Forest, Run’’. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to run like Forest , but seeing those lines go crazy on the screen monitoring my movements AS I imagined my own legs breaking free the Lokomat, reinvigorated me to chase even faster after my goal to walk again with EVERYTHING I have. Yes, its been over ten years and many have moved on but I’ve never given up. But I need your help to raise $96,200 for physical therapy.

For the last 13 years I’ve been committed to living my best life despite the paralysis. I finished school earning my BS in Business Administration. I took a job right out of school working for an incredible company called Where’sLulu.com, whose mission is to normalize disability and shine a light on disability culture. I’ve started a company creating accessories for wheelchairs, I visit a local nursing home and sing to the residents a couple a days month and have continued physical therapy even if it was just in my living room with a friend and a youtube video. I’ve become an aunt twice and look forward to walking down the aisle and having my own kids some day. Please help me raise $96,200 for physical therapy.
