Kristin's Road to Recovery

Kristin Joannou Lyon, Ph.D. and her toddler were in a terrible car accident in rural Missouri on June 27, 2017. She was flown to University Hospital in Columbia and her son was sent in an ambulance. Her son was released soon after with only minor injuries.

Kristin spent three weeks in the hospital and underwent four surgeries. She is now at a rehabilitation hospital closer to home, where she is improving physically and mentally each day. With time and continued therapy, we remain optimistic for a complete recovery.

With the move the family will no longer have to stay in a hotel. However, with insurance deductibles, child care, and specialized medical professionals the bill is growing. They are careful with their money, but as many know, this kind of expense can devastate a family for years.

Please consider donating to help pay for the medical and related costs. Currently these are around $5000.

Here's how the financial assistance will be used:
-Medical out of pocket costs
-Specialized physical and occupational therapy
-Childcare expenses
-Helicopter and ambulance transfers

There are so many of us that love Kristin. Let's celebrate the great mother, special education teacher, special education researcher, world travelling adventurer, volunteer, assistant professor, dog lover, and friend she is and support her on this road to recovery.

She doesn't need the stress of added debt and loss of income to burden her mind while her brain and body is healing.
