Colie Care Campaign

Justin and Kristie (Howe) Colie are just like you. They are raising a family, taking care of their house, earning a living, and you know, they are tired all the time--JUST LIKE YOU!

But unlike you, the Colie’s have an ever present cloud hanging over them. Justin has a terminal illness. Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities and has no cure. On top of this, Justin was also recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Another genetic kick in the ass. Justin turns 40 in June.

Kristie and Justin are well aware of the impact his medical conditions has on their family and have been doing their best to create a life of love and support for their three children in Titusville, PA. 

There are enormous stressors on every single member of the family on top of the regular stress that most American parents feel daily. Kristie knows that the love of her life will not be here for long, and works to make as many happy memories in her children’s life while Justin is still able to enjoy creating these memories. Kristie manages the household, the shopping, the yard-work, the chauffeur duties and the emotional stability of all of the members of her family. She is also responsible for Justin’s caregiving decisions and needs. We need to help Kristie be healthy and deal as best she can with the issues a terminal illness brings to a family.
