Dear friends, most of you know I was hit by a car as a pedestrian several years ago-  which caused a lot of pelvic, hip, and foot damage, esp on the left side of my body. I was uninsured at the the time, which did  affect the quality of care I was able to access.  Sustaining damage from the accident, compensation and overuse of certain muscle groups as a bike commuter and dancer, and a physically demanding job, came to a head this past month when I was woken out of my sleep in excruciating , radiating pain in my knee, leg and hip, which sent me to urgent care for help and xrays. I now know that pain (and my lingering pain) was  caused by a hip impingment and pinched nerves / nerve damage in my left hip socket. To make a long story short, structurally my pelvis is a little off, and where my left femur goes into my hip socket, it is not moving properly, causing an acetabular impingement, which is pinching nerves in my left leg, the head of my femur keeps rubbing where it should not. Additionally I was diagnosed with Chondromalacia.  There is also arthritic inflammation and stiffness  in my hip/pelvic area near the area of that traumatic impact. I was already dealing with chronic sciatic nerve pain, and nerve damage on my left side before this recent flare. For a few days I was unable to walk,  bear weight normally on my left side, or navigate stairs. I missed a  week and a half of full time work, but have now returned with knee supports on my legs and restrictions. I am currently combining aggressive daily physical therapy (as instructed by a physical therapist at OHSU) and rest, ice, heat and a more anti inflammatory diet, as well as taking many supplements and using topical medications. I am now off heavy pain meds and nerve supressants, and am walking without the assistance of a cane. My sleep is still very compromised, I wake in the morning with hip pain. I am steadily making improvements and getting stronger,  physical therapy has helped a lot, but I still do not have a green light to ride my bike regularly, and that is a personal goal for me.  In the midst of it all, I am fighting discouragement and financial pressures, and trying to maintain a hopeful attitude and gratitude for what I do have, and what I can do. At this point, some of the care and things I need are not covered by my insurance, and those that are I am nearing the max amount of visits they cover.  I am an active person, who loves hiking, biking, adventuring, and dancing- please consider helping me work towards more respite from persistent pain, rehabilitating and strengthening my body, and making adaptations to return to the activities I enjoy. The knee issue should be able to be be greatly improved through physical therapy, for the hip, I am exploring all the non surgical avenues before considering surgery.

Costs I am hoping to cover or recover:

**lost time from work
***cost of continued treatment: chiropractic, physical therapy, accupuncture, manual therapy
**transportation pass, transportation costs (bus pass, lyft costs while my mobility is challenged)
***new mattress as recommended by my doctor and chiropractor
**stiff soled, supportive shoes and insoles/orthotics, and when I return to biking I will require stiff soled cycling shoes
*bike fitted by physical therapist ($175)
*possibly a cane for occasional use, and this is my pride here- if I have to use a cane, I want an elegant looking one, and one that is collapsible if possible for a more discreet look.

If you are not able to help financially, but you are a massage therapist or accupuncturist willing to donate services, or would be able to provide occasional daytime transportation to medical appointments, or can help me do my laundry, (carrying large loads up and down stairs difficult right now, don't have appliances in my unit) that would also be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration!
