MANY DOGS KILLED IN FIRE NEIGHBOR LIT, FAMILY HOMELESS
Donation protected
PLEASE, WE NEED ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE TO KEEP THE DOGS FED AND LIGHTS ON! JUNE OF 2025
We are now 3 years since the fire that someone else started and destroyed our entire sustainable farm, and we still haven't received a penny nor any justice for what has been done to our family, human and furry alike. We lost literally everything we have ever owned BUT even worse, we lost so many beautiful German Shepherd and cat souls who didnt deserve to die. They killed so many of our furry family members! We are STILL waiting for justice, still have not received a single penny from the people who did this to us, and they haven't had so much as a ticket issued to them. We are struggling to keep mouths fed and lights on due to someone else's negligence. WE NEED HELP to buy more dog food and supplies to care for our wonderful dogs and because of the fire our overhead means we are at a loss financially. We are still technically homeless, with children and the pets who we were able to rescue. We still walk around in the used clothes people dropped off after the fire. We dont have the funds to buy new clothes, let alone rebuild our home. The property still sits a tragic graveyard full of pain and loss. Please, if you can help us, we desperately need people to hear and share our story. Even if only to raise awareness of what happens when someone lights a match during terrible weather forecast conditions! Please share, and maybe if everyone can pitch in a little we can make a serious step towards recovery from what has been by far the worst experience we have ever been through. We were completely innocent bystanders in this tragedy.
All funds donated directly help the human and dog victims of this awful tragedy.
In mere moments we had lost everything we had worked so diligently on for many years. All we walked away with was the clothes on our backs and utterly broken hearts. We went from having a peaceful lunch in the house to being homeless before dinner, it just happened so extremely fast due to the Red Flag Warning that our neighbors chose to ignore.
Krieghund Farm is our award-winning, world-class Import line German Shepherds are our pride and joy and our family Business! We had roughly 30 German shepherds throughout the farm if you include the newborns. Some were ones we had rescued to rehab and rehome, several were retired and now just family members. We had a first time mother with a litter of two-day-old puppies they killed. We now have only 9 German Shepherds left. Our autistic sons service dog and best friend of 8 years was killed in the fire, and he is still so sad and doesnt sleep well since the fire. He was such a happy kid before the fire and now he is just deflated. He doesnt have the joy he once had, his old hobbies dont tive him joy like they used to. Multiple family cats, including our young childs best buddy Zelda and our beloved Tuxedo cat who was my lap cat named Boots were also lost. We lost all of our chickens. Our hearts are destroyed . The nightmares are unbearable and just won't stop even years later. The tears still fall daily. We are all traumatized beyond repair after losing our whole world all at once. We are in therapy and it just isn't taking away the ache, the continued stress of being heart broken, financially broke for 3 years despite trying so hard to build back what we can for the kids and the dogs sake, and the harsh reality that this was done to us and those responsible have shown no remorse. We couldnt even compel the legal system to do anything, and we BEGGED FOR MONTHS. We have been met with cold shoulders from those responsible and it has added to the pain greatly. There really arent words to describe the awful pain that our family and our incredible dogs have been through. We are fighting the fight of our lives and we keep feeling the water closing in on us. Its taken such a toll on all of us, our health has suffered, our mental health has been a severe problem now, and the stress just keeps coming.
Our lives forever changed that day, as we are now faced with the financial burdens squarely on our shoulders at this point to survive, recoupe and rebuild. Due to our off grid lifestyle choice of alternative electricity and heating etc none of our structures including our home were insured despite us trying. We were denied insurance because of "fire risk". We used wood stoves for 25 years and never had any issues with fire. Ironic. We had fire suppression systems in every buildings but we couldnt counter everything being on fire at once and so quickly. 60mph sustained winds and even worse gusts made for the worst fire NorthEast Nebraska has on record. It took over 26 fire departments and dozens of farmers with discs to get that fire out finally, but it wasn't until our entire farm was destroyed. Our once peaceful, lovely family farm now looked like a war zone. Nothing survived. The canning jars that once lined the kitchen window all melted, and soda lime doesn't melt until it hits 2500 degrees. The average house fire temps dont get above 1000 degrees but the terrible weather conditions made for a severe fire event. Our large fire safes all failed and had holes burned in them and everything inside was gone. The smaller fire safes completely disintegrated, thats how bad this fire was. Everything we have ever owned, every piece of our lives, history, its all gone. And to top it all off, they killed our furry family members. We have no comfort of any kind except each other and the handful of dogs we managed to rescue before the fire killed them. The 500 gallon propane tanks blew. The 500 gallon gas tank exploded. It was hell on earth. All our lifes work to be prepared for just about any disaster, but we didn't anticipate 5500 acres around us ablaze because of someone else's negligence. Our dogs deserve justice, we deserve justice, but we also deserve some space to breath and try to even attempt to heal after what we have all beem through. We haven't been able to even attempt healing because we are 3 years now fighting the fight of our lives. We have tried desperately to keep the dogs we rescued from the fire, we have clawed and scratched trying to keep everyone cared for. Every penny has gone to keep this family, both human and furry, afloat. We are struggling, constantly, and that constant stress on top of the trauma and PTSD from the fire has just chipped away at us so much. As a mother, seeing my kids go through such heartache has been excruciating. My autistic son's inability to handle his whole world being turned upside down has been a real challenge. He misses his dog Fluffy endlessly. Seeing my dogs who have PTSD from the fire is infuriating. Some of them have never recovered from it. When the wind starts blowing, some of them panic, just like we do now. If we see or smell smoke, its so scary now and I can see the dogs react to it.
We appreciate your support so much. Even if its just sharing our story so no one else ever does something so careless and negligent again. Check the weather forecast for way beyond just the day you want to burn something. Lives depend on it! Bless each and every one of you for your support, love, kind words, and any prayers you have given!
