Hospital and rehabilitation Kokua for Bryan

Donation protected
Mahalo for taking time to check out our GoFundMe. Here is some info on our WHY.

For over a week my husband Bryan Sadaoka was at Straub Hospital. It started on Friday 3/22 when he woke up at 1:30 in the morning with the chills. It continued over the weekend and finally on Sunday 3/24 we went to Urgent Care. By then he was numb in his left arm and had trouble even putting his clothes on. I used our stroller as a walker to get him out the hale, to the car, out of the car and to the office.

Urgent Care sent us to ER and after several tests they said they were admitting him to hospital. We got to Urgent Care at 1:30 and he was finally in the hospital room at 8:30. After numerous tests and MRIs they determined that he had several issues; bacteria in his blood, "sticky" blood which was causing clots and his MRI showed many small pukas in his brain which they told us were all "mini strokes". He spent the first 3 days on IV, antibiotics and antivirals while they continued to test to get answers. The only answer they got was that the bacteria was Group A Strep.

They didnʻt give him any blood thinners for the clotting due to the bacteria in his blood because they said their main concern was to treat the infection and clear his blood. For the first few days we were unable to see him without masks. He was basically bedridden the first few days. He started having physical and occupational therapy once a day to get him moving. Doctors couldnʻt figure out how or when the bacteria got in his blood. He ended up needed a cathter because his bladder was retaining too much which was taken out on his last day. He remained on antibiotics for the rest of his stay. They eventually put in a PICC IV line into his arm because they said he will be needing antibiotics yet for at least a month. (which we will have to give while at home)

They discharged him from Straub yesterday 4/2 to go Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific where he will be doing physical/occupational therapy as needed. He will return home after treatment until doctor says heʻs good to go back to work.

Itʻs a long road to recovery and Iʻve decided to start a GoFundMe just to help cover some of his medical bills which includes ER, Straub, Rehab and his home infusion and equipment. ANY kokua would be great because that would be just a little less stress for us to deal with right now as weʻve been bombarded.

We are all so physically and emotionally drained.  We have 5 keiki and they are so broken because of everything. We lost their grandpa (Bryanʻs dad) in February after losing his battle to cancer and now this. We never like to ask for help or handouts but for the situation we are in now I think we do. I am not asking for a lot because basically ANYTHING is better than nothing at this point. Once I get the exact amount of all the bills I will update. I will also be sure to keep receipts and notes for everything to ensure you that this money will be used SPECIFICALLY towards medical costs

MAHALO for taking the time to read about our cause  and for anyone who has given MAHALO NUI LOA for your love and kokua. Anybody who knows Bryan knows that he will do whatever he can to help others. Our ʻohana appreciate all who have helped us in this time.
