We are planning on taking two trips to Haiti in 2016 - one in July, leading a team from our church again, and one in December, to spend Christmas with our Haitian friends & the kids at Wholehearted Orphanage. We are fundraising a total of $6,000.
I know it seems like we are always asking for support to go on these trips, and you're probably wondering why you should give to someone so they can travel whenever they want. We want to use these third and fourth trips as an opportunity to share our passion, love, and dedication to the country of Haiti with you.
First of all, thank you to everyone in our lives who have supported us this far. Not only financially, but through believing in us, encouraging us, and praying for us. We don't take these things lightly - to be surrounded by people who love you, and push you to do what you love is one of the best and most empowering feelings. We love you with the deepest parts of our hearts.
Our trips to Haiti will be spent working with Wholehearted Orphanage and Haitian Christian Mission. These organizations are the ones we have worked with on our past two trips, and we are thrilled to continue building relationships with them. Haitian Christian Mission runs over 50 churches and 100 schools, and OBGYN center, a hospital, and humanitarian aide in Haiti. They are a Haitian run organization based on the principle of sharing Jesus and offering healing and hope. Wholehearted Orphanage was started after the earthquake, when around 100,000 chidren were orphaned. The beautiful thing about Wholehearted is that they have it set up as a family unit, which provides a nurturing, loving, and holistic environment for the kids.
In the past we have helped with food distribution, building the new orphanage site, helping in the OBGYN and hospital, painting the school buildings, running VBS's, spending time at the orphanage, and offering assistance in the refugee camps. We plan to return with a focus on Wholehearted Orphanage, and doing whatever they need done - from hanging tarps, to fixing playground equipment, to loving on the beautiful kids who live there. Wholehearted is the thing that keeps drawing us back to Haiti - leaving those kids is the hardest thing, every time. If you have questions about HCM or Wholehearted Orphanage, what we plan to do, or why your investment matters or is needed, please feel free to contact us at any time. We would love to take you out to coffee and share our vision and purpose in continuing to visit Haiti.
We love and appreciate every single one of you. Thank you for loving us and pushing us toward the things we love and cherish.
