Kim Brown was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and has been in 3 different hospitals since early August. Kim had major brain surgery on August 8, 2016 and is still in Neuro-ICU at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. The diagnosis was an acoustic meningioma approximately 5cm in size. This was pressing on her brain stem, restricting the proper regulation of spinal fluid. It also has affected her balance, hearing in left ear peripheral vision, and loss of feeling on left lower face/jaw to name a few things. The doctors felt that this tumor had been growing approximately 30-40 yrs at this point, at an estimated rate of 1mm a year. The general prognosis is good for a long full life, but there are hurdles to clear along the way. She will have physical therapy, as well as balance therapy to relearn what normal is. Currently her condition is good, considering the extensive amount of surgery that was required to remove the tumor. At this time the plan for her care is not exact. Her family has been told that rehabilitation and recovery times are very hard to predict. So all we can do for now is wait and pray hard for our dear friend Kim and her family. Kim and Rob Brown have 2 beautiful daughters and a loving and caring extended family. Currently, we are raising money for the cost of living out of town for several weeks and initial medical costs. As more is known about Kim's medical plan the use of the funds raised may be towards rehabilitaion and medical bills. This sweet and precious family needs the burden of bills and finances lifted as they love and support Kim during this difficult time. Financial support will alleviate this burden and give them the time that they need together in Memphis. Support like this would mean the world to their family.
