Meeks Family Medical Expenses

Kim Meeks is a 46 year old female, wife, and mother of two that has been dealing with serious health problems since 2011. She was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) and had to have both kidneys removed back in July 2012. Since that time she has been on and off the Kidney Transplant list due to complications from Gastric Artial Vascular Ectasia (GAVE). This disease causes bleeding inside the stomach. Over the last two years Kim has had over 15 EGD’s, received over 50 pints of blood, had several cauterizations of the stomach lining, and a surgery to remove part of her stomach. Of course she has also been on dialysis during this time. November 24, 2015 Kim went to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida to have the majority of her remaining stomach removed. A couple of days later she went into septic shock and has been fighting for her life since that time. She has had numerous surgeries and procedures during this time to include receiving a pacemaker, trach, feeding tube and remains in ICU at Mayo Clinic. She has had a good week and is making “baby steps” toward her healing process. She still has a way to go but seems to be moving forward at the current time. She is remarkably strong and has remained positive through it all with the help of her loving family.

As you can imagine expenses are taking a toll on this family as they have had to be with her in Jacksonville since November 24th. Her husband Bruce, daughter Ashley, son Jason and her parents have been switching out staying in Jacksonville to be near her while trying to work in the process. They are incurring lodging expenses, gas expenses, meal expenses, etc. while trying to take care of their home expenses in the process. It’s hard to ask for help but the time has come that it’s needed. Any amount, nothing is too small, will be greatly appreciated. Your continued prayer is also appreciated as they continue to fight to get her home.
Thanking you in advance!
