Mayo Clinic or Bust

Donation protected
As many of you may already know our dear friend and family member Kimberly Hopp has had a tremendously rough few years.  Back surgery coupled with a family tragedy compounded by multiple staph infections has left her battling untold pain and heartache.  Through it all, Kimberly has remained the upbeat, bright-eyed, engaged person she has always been; more worried about us than about herself even when the pain has been overwhelming.

Kimberly is normally a doer – the first one to get up from the table at a dinner party to clear dishes; the first one to think of solutions to your problems before being asked; passionate about her causes; and one of the most caring friends you can ask for – but now it’s time for us to do something for her.  She needs our help to finally get the treatment she needs and deserves so she can get back to being her full doing self.

She finally has a diagnosis: dysautonomia*.  With that diagnosis, Kimberly has applied and been accepted for treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, one of the only clinics in the U.S. with a unit dedicated to treat dysautonomia.  But she needs our help to get there and she needs it fast.

We want to raise at least $12,000 to get Kimberly the care she so desperately needs and cover the costs of travel, lodging, childcare, and medical treatment.  As we all hear over and over again medical bills can overwhelm even the most economically stable family.  Kimberly and her family have been incurring huge medical bills for many years.  Now that she is hopefully reaching the last leg of this awful journey, it’s time to reach out to the community to help manage the costs of this great and greatly needed opportunity.

We are shooting to raise the funds needed as close to her first Mayo appointment as possible.  Reaching the full $12,000 by mid-December would be fantastic.

Please give generously.  We want our fun, happy, bread-making, passionate, knitting friend back.  Let’s do this!
