Help Us Get Kim Back on His Feet #strokesurvivor

Kim-Hoang Nguyen’s life is centered around everyone he loves- his family, his friends, and his community. He gives all of himself to us, and the time has come to give back that love to him.

On July 23, 2019 Kim suffered a stroke, and life as he knew it stopped dead in its tracks. A blood clot prevented the flow of blood to parts of his brain, and without blood, parts of his brain started to die.

He woke up in a hospital, confused, unable to communicate, and unable to move.

For friends and family who experienced this stage with Kim, it was both devastating and emotional.

Fast-forward several days; Kim was transferred to a rehabilitation center and set out on a difficult road to recovery.  With the overwhelming support of his family and friends, Kim knew he had to fight like hell to recover, not just for him, but also for us.

Everyday, he fights through pain and paralysis, an inch at a time making huge progress in just a few weeks of physical therapy; he remains unable to fend for himself.

In the background, family and close friends have their own fight. In a catch-22 scenario, while Kim is fighting to recover, the progress he’s made, is forcing Kim’s health insurance Company to discharge him prematurely from the facility. We have successfully fought to extend this event for weeks, but TIME is running out.

Kim NEEDS full time personal care and ESPECIALLY physical and occupational therapy, as the first 4-months of recovery are critical and will permanently impact his overall recovery.

Options are quickly becoming limited for Kim, without the help of insurance; the costs for care, therapy, and board are unmanageable for him.

Today, Sept. 11, Kim will be discharged from the rehab center and temporarily moved to a handicap accessible Extended Stay Hotel, due to his home not being handicap accessible. During this time we continue to transport him daily to continue physical and occupational therapy.

All contributions will go toward costs for his temporary hotel stay, preparation for handicap accessibility for his home, his professional and personal care, medications, and physical/occupational therapy.

Let’s pull together, as a community and help our friend in his imminent time of need.

I encourage you to share, to repost, to write your own personal story of knowing Kim and how he’s affected your life and to contribute to ‘Help Us Get Kim Back on His Feet #strokesurvivor’.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE FACEBOOK PAGE “Kim-Hoang Nguyen’s Road to Recovery” for detailed updates on his progress and also transparency in to how his recovery contributions are spent.

P.S. Kim would love to write everyone a personal thank you note, and while it’s not possible yet, please try and identify yourselves. If you must remain anonymous, Thank You.
