UPDATE:

I finally found my own place to live in July 2024 after bouncing around and crashing with friends for almost a year. FEMA denied me rental assistance so I have been paying for everything out of pocket and only getting part time hours at work. Life is still stressful and a struggle every day, but regardless I’m thankful to have a place of my own again to call home. Thank you for the support this far, we still have a long road to rebuilding our town and getting back home to Lāhainā.

The Lahaina fires that rapidly wreacked havoc through town on August 8th, 2023 took everything we know and called home.

I didn’t own my home.

& I didn’t own or lose a business.

I GOT to drive away safely.

So for that, I am so thankful.

I did lose the harbor where I worked out of and spent a most of my days.

I had just moved into my own one bedroom, which I had bought all new stuff to furnish it. I didn’t have renters insurance yet and I lost everything.. all my possessions.. Work equipment, like my collection of fishing lures that I’ll miss the most.. but more importantly I lost an entire town that I’ve been lucky enough to call home for over a decade now.

I lost the walls that held so many memories of almost half my life.

A town I loved so much, is now unrecognizable.

Any little bit helps, and I’ll continue to share whatever is donated and continue to volunteer where ever I am needed.
