Its been 65 days since I received news that I had 9 cancerous lesions on my brain. 61 since days since I received Gamma Knife Radiation therapy on these tumors from Barrows Neurological Institute, and now we wait 30 more days to see what the results of that are.

I'm finally surfacing enough to write and share. Yes, I'm grieving... Yes, everyday is precious, the same as it always has been for me long before any of the cancering even started... Yes, I feel a deep sense of failure... Yes, I'm still oozing with purpose amidst all of this... Yes, my boys and family have been tremendously impacted. The nature of their childhood has completely changed. My gratitude for El Grupo Bike Club (the boys' bike club) and Andrea Connolly of Birds and Arrows (Asa's guitar teacher) is immeasurable in giving Asa and Zander outlets of normalcy in this bizarre world.

Personally, every time I touch into the gratitude for those "on the ground" with me, the tears pour out in buckets. And, I still need help... we need help as a family. I continue to comb through every aspect of my body's terrain with guidance from practitioners of the Metabolic Institute of Health (founded by Dr. Nasha Winters) to address the root causes of the cancering process. It is an integrative approach utilizing extensive testing to address issues with bloodwork, hormones, GI tract, tumor types, inflammation, genetics, and immune system components. Daily detox protocols along with planning, tracking, and preparing a low-carb therapeutic diet (highly recommended for my case) takes an immense amount of will, time, and financial resources right now. It is truly amazing how many of the health issues I have been suffering with for the past 20 years are not affecting me as much due to this approach. Many pieces of my care have evolved, changed and become part of my daily life, but since the brain tumor diagnosis the dial has "turned up". I've also taken on being a student at the Metabolic Health Institute steeping in education to become the advocate that everyone with a cancer diagnosis should have.
