From  Thirty-Six little ones, Thank You.
Let's get building!!

Why Are We Building a Home?Fig. 1 - One of the buildings in which the children and Simion live; comprised of dirt floors, and in many places, missing walls.

"I could have bought myself a house by now..." Simion told me over WhatsApp. "But I wanted to give my life to serve these children."

Simion's Story:

“I used to work as a mechanic. That’s when I came across the first two children I took in.”

Often I would come across street children who would ask for 5 shillings ($.05) to buy food. One Sunday I was meeting with a friend, and an orphan came up to me and ask,  “Can you help me with 5 shillings so I can buy something to eat? I said “No I have nothing.” My then friend, told the child to go away though! I was appalled, and asked him why. He said he just didn’t like street children. I cried later, and I realized I needed to help.

I took that boy and trained him for 5 years. He was 9 years old when he came to me. I would give him money from my mechanic’s work at the end of day. Eventually, the young boy would bring other street children that needed food also. If I made 300 shillings ($2.76) in a day, I would take 100 shillings for food for the children.

One day as I was working at the mechanics shop, a woman came in with her 3 year old daughter to have work done. She asked us to keep watch over her daughter because she had to leave, but she never came back. The child was left behind. At 6pm we closed the shop, and I asked myself, “What am I going to do?” I took the girl to the police station to ask for help, but they did not have a way to take care of the child. They told me I have to take care of her until they find her mother. Sadly, the mother was never found. That was in June of 2018.  I still have the young girl today.

That’s when I decided—that’s when I decided really needed to take care of them. I took the young boy I had been training and help, and I took the 3 year old to my house and made them food and let them sleep there. And that’s how my work in this ministry began.

From there I started with 10 total orphans. I said, I can take 10 from the streets, and give them a place to sleep. So many children sleep on the streets, babies being tended by toddlers. I started providing food for them also though. Eventually I had another 3 girls that were 6, 9, and 11 years old; and now the total number was at 13 orphans I decided to take them to school—but I couldn’t afford the school fees. So I want back to my father, who is a pastor and asked him “What can I do for these kids?” This had become too hard and I don’t think I can afford to take care of them. He said, “My son, today what you are doing, people may think you are crazy, but God WILL help you take care of those kids.

But I said, “I don’t think God can help me take care of them.”

Dad said, “Why?”

I said, “Because of what kind work I do, I don’t make enough money to take care of all these children.”

But one morning we had Nothing. No food. And the landowner I rented from was asking for rent money.

I said, “Why did I decide to do this??? My life has changed, I spent all the money for food for the children!”

I decided to go and check with a friend of mine for help. But on the way I came across a wallet on the ground. I opened it, and it had 21,000 ksh in it ($200). I went back to my dad, and told him about the wallet.

Dad said, “Are you serious? Do you remember when I told you God will help you?

He told me to go buy food for the children with the money. I bought bags of rice, beans, cooking oil, and other cooking materials.

From that day my dad asked me to NEVER send the children away. So now I have my own orphanage and school. I can give them education, as much as possible. I want to train them, change them, so that can depend on themselves, become self-sufficient and make it in the world.

Our Goal

The goal is not to supply endless amounts of money to a poverty stricken nation, but to  enable  Simion and the children to have a home from which to work, learn, grow; sell a crop, and raise poultry eventually.

I have watched God’s providence be wonderfully evident with these children, and I now ask He and you for the funds to build these kids a proper home!

How Will My Money Be Used?Fig. 3 - A bungalow style home, similar to that which will be contracted for the children.

Your donation will directly contribute to building a structurally sound and dry home for the children and Simion. The home pictured above is similar to that which will be built!

It will be a bungalow-style home built by Joseph Kimori, a contractor in Kisii. It be built with brick, a concrete floor and a metal roof.

On September 4th, we were able to obtain the title deed to a piece of land (About a half-acre lot!) where the house will be built—glory to God!! As soon as we are financially ready, materials will be purchased, and building should begin.

When Are We Doing This?

Now until the first week of October!
October 9th , 2020 is the material purchase date Simion has set. Once purchased, building should commence and require approximately 2 months. The goal for completion is mid-to-late December 2020. Our goal is to send every dollar donated besides fees to Simion before October 6th!

What’s Next, Though?Fig. 4 - A portion of the land currently being stewarded by Simion and the children.

Not far from where the house will be built (About .6 miles), Simion has also been given farmland to work for 5 years. He has already cleared and prepared three-quarters of the land and sown a crop for food and for profit. Our home-building effort will grant Simion and the orphans’ greater stability to work, rest, learn, and play; the way our Father in Heaven would have it!

Additionally in following phases of our project, we plan to drill a borehole for an on-site water well at the new home, incorporating a 4,000 gallon storage tank. Currently, the children will walk 3 kilometers to obtain water to boil for drinking and washing.

Thank You, and Thanks be to God

"Behold, children are a gift from the LORD..." –My friends, let’s do our best to put walls and a roof around these beautiful ones. Thank you, so very, very much.
