Justice for Kevin Hinesmon

Donation protected
The Hinesmon and Walker-West family have been struck by a devastating loss.   Kevin Hinesmon the last surviving child of  Renee Walker-West and eldest son of John Hinesmon  was taken away from his mother and family in a sensless and unimaginable act of violence far too soon.

Kevin was a single father of two beautiful and intelligent children.  He and the children had begun to heal from the tragic and unexpected loss of his baby sister to a still unanswered illness a short time ago at the age of 21.   Filled with questions and the void of her loving support he and his two children had finally arrived at a place of peace.  They were thriving and began to once again experience academic success.  Through the love of their father and support of their grandmother Ya-Ya they began again to be rewarded with the honor roll consistently for their efforts.

This past weekend while spending time with Ya-Ya in preparation for her departure for a vacation to celebrate her upcoming birthday, a late night early morning call once again shook this family to its core.  Repeated calls to awaken Ya-Ya were finally answered and she was informed that she needed to come right away because her son Kevin Hinesmon had been shot, upon arriving seeing yellow tape and repeated requests to see him, she was forced back by the police.  She continued to wait while on the phone with his father pleading for answers from anyone, hoping the tape was not a sign of the unimaginable.  The officers continued to exit and enter the doors without acknowledging her pleas.  Exasperated and determined to get an answer she made a final attempt to peek inside for some sign of him and his condition.  A very frustrated officer came out and yelled "Get Back this is my last time telling you" she responded "please tell me something I'm his mother, is he okay, is he alive......  "NO" the officer yelled in her face.  She and John were left with the unfathomable reality that they had now lost their only living child.

The family is devastated and working to make funeral arrangements again.. and prepare for the long-term care of the two children Ke'Ashya and Kevin Hinesmon now left behind.  While witnessing the conversations and planning for both I felt a tug in my heart to reach out to those that know and love this family and those that can relate in some way to this life altering experience to extend support.  I'm sure many of you would not want to even imagine what it is like to bury even one  child. Yet these parents who are not even 50 themselves are now faced with burying their second and last surviving child.

The recent days have been filled with cards and flowers yet this family needs a sacrificial blessing.  I am asking  those who are able to please contribute financially to the family.  They were definitely not prepared to send another child home to the Lord.  Rather than send cards, flowers, or plants please contribute the funds to this account.  Ya-Ya is still surrounded by and treasures the plants and cards she received from all of those that loved her daughter Jasmine Hinesmon, please extend your support this time in a different way.
