Assist children that lost parent in Kerrville, TX Floods.

Hi everyone! We are a 501c3 qualified charity. We are currently raising funds to assist children that have lost parents in the Kerrville, TX floods. As of July 17th, we have requests for assistance for at least five different children. The floods came in the middle of the night, surprised everyone, and hit in areas where camping normally occurs for both adults and children. Making matters worse, the flooding hit during the US July 4th Independence Day holiday. What should've been a weekend of fun, ended being one of worst that a child can have.

Losing a parent is one of the worst things a young child can experience. Adding to this pain, is the fact that the child must now deal with all that goes along with this. We provide support for immediate lodging, meals, and emotional support. We also provide coverage for costs to bring immediate family to the area. Lastly, we provide coverage for court/government costs required to move.

Even if parents had a will, a will doesn't legally do anything in terms of custody. The government and courts will be the ones that determine the next steps. This of course usually will require hiring a lawyer. The last thing a child or their close relatives need to worry about is if they can cover costs to legally move a child to a loving home.

We as an organization offer assistance to any child that has lost their parents. In rare cases of those 16 or 17 years of age, we will also arrange for and cover costs of providing a temporary guardian. In this way, older teens aren't ripped away from their remaining support group.

HELPING ORPHANED PEOPLE EXCEL (H.O.P.E.) is an IRS 501c3 tax exempt organization and thus all donations are tax deductible. Most other donations made via GoFundMe pages are not deductible. However as we have obtained 501c3 status as a public charity, 100% of donations can be deducted.

We have no administrative expenses. All of us involved with this charity cover all of our own expenses.
