Hello friends and family
I am reaching out to all of you after finding out my good friend Kent Connolly was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago.
I have known Kent for the past 6 years, originally as an online gaming friend. When he discovered he had cancer, he was hoping for better results but was shocked when he was diagnosed Stage 4 in his esophagus, hip, and back. Another mutual friend Shawn and I want to raise money to help offset the costs of household expenses and offer him additional options to look at alternative treatments. His Doctors have stated that Chemo and Radiation are only maintenance solutions for him. We would like to help him have a chance to seek additional care without the burden of wondering if he will have enough income to maintain appointments and his monthly home expenses.
Shawn and I both met Kent on iRacing, an online racing simulation. I really got to know him well. He is humble and not someone who would ask anybody for help. He has been a loyal Produce Manager for Walmart for the past 20 years. He lives and supports himself in the home he grew up in and has a son and a sister nearby. His home is filled with so many wonderful memories and memorabilia from years past.
I had the privilege of finally meeting him in person while I was on a recent trip. Our travel plans brought us within an hour of Kent’s home after he had just received the Stage 4 diagnosis and treatment schedule. With the help of Shawn giving me his address and doing a little detective work to find out his schedule, I was able to surprise him by showing up at his front door and got to take him for a fun ride in my Dodge Challenger, as he is a huge Mopar muscle car guy too. Beside muscle cars, he loves everything racing, football, family, friends, and Disney.
