Eight years ago I sustained a traumatic brain injury and subsequent strokes that left me paralyzed on the left side of my body. I completed inpatient rehabilitation at both Kingston General Hospital and St Mary's of the Lake Hospital where I relearned how to eat, breath, talk, walk, etc. I continue to work hard on my rehabilitation to improve my function and mobility, and to maintain the progress I have made, through ongoing physiotherapy and the Neuromuscular Post Rehabilitation program at the YMCA.
Through the recommendation of one of my doctors I was made aware of a program that has shown positive results for persons in my position. It is a program called MyndMove at the Physical Therapy Clinic at Queen's. MyndMove is a prescription therapy to significantly improve voluntary arm and hand movement. At this point in time it is not covered by the Provincial Health Plan, or funded in any way. I am opening this account in hopes that you can help me achieve my goal of continuing to improve my function and mobility!
