On July 29th, I underwent major brain surgery—Chiari malformation decompression. This is an intense, invasive procedure that involves removing part of the skull to relieve dangerous pressure. While the surgery itself went well, I’ve developed complications that have made recovery even harder than expected.

Doctors have told me my full recovery will take six months, and for at least the next 4-8 weeks, I am unable to do almost anything on my own. My husband is my full-time caregiver, as well as the caretaker for our children. This means he is unable to work much, if at all, and with no family nearby to help, we are completely dependent on one another.

The financial toll has been devastating. Bills are falling behind, and every dollar we have is going toward keeping our kids fed. We’ve reached out for assistance, but because we’re not hurricane victims, we haven’t qualified for help. We’ve never been in this desperate of a situation before, but right now we need both prayers and support more than ever.
