Thank you to all that donated over the past 2 years to a total of almost $37,000. We are so grateful
This is a new fund for the end of 2018 and 2019. We are seeking to raise $25,000.
Chris has struggled with Multiple Sclerosis for 20 years but always, with strong faith has said, "MS sucks but God is good." His MS has now progressed to a critical point. He and Katie have reached a time in his life that has placed a strain like no other time before. To some it may seem insurmountable, but to them, a part of the journey they will persevere and endure. Financially, they cannot do this alone.
Now, more than ever, they need help in any way that you can. If even just a small amount, together in numbers, we can all lower the financial burden and lessen the strain.
When Chris was diagnosed, he was a history teacher and wrestling coach. Chris and Katie’s three children, Tim, Emilie and Laurie were under 5. Over the years, although his body has failed, he still remains a whole person - full of love and faith. He greets others with his warm, spontaneous smile and the sparkle in his eye. Although he communicates only with the movement of his eyes, one cannot help but feel his spirit and understand his response. Chris is totally dependent on Katie or a caregiver for all of his needs. Katie has cared for him through each progression of his disease and continual losses with love and grace. During Chris’s recent hospitalization, many healthcare professionals have commented on what excellent care Chris has received by Katie. Witnessing Katie and Chris share their love and amazing faith even during the most challenging times is an inspiration to many. Many people call on Chris to pray for the needs of their family and friends due to his great faith and trust in God.
From Emilie Kelso... "Let me tell you about my dad. Every single day he succeeds by not falling into the all too accessible mentality of being defined by progressing disabilities. Listening to his friends, family, and caretakers’ talk to him, my dad maintains a deeply attentive and caring expression. He can’t talk back or discuss yet still he gives a heartfelt response. His facial structure, which can sometimes appear as immobilized, will flourish into a grin from ear to ear at the release of our silly jokes and at the sound of us laughing at ourselves. This graceful humor is an experience as his daughter that I am honored to have often, and I know many of you who have spent any amount of time with him can attest to it as well! My dad has true gratefulness of those who surround him, as well as trust that he is an inspiration and encouragement to us all."
Many friends, family and church community have supported the Kelso's over the past 20 years, including extended family. At present, during this critical time of care and transition, funds are required beyond what the extended Duensing family is able to provide. In order to meet this need, the Duensing family is looking to raise $25,000. The funds will be used to bridge the gap between the Kelso's modest income and their increasing needs over the next two years.
God bless and help spread the word!
(Kim Duensing (sister-in-law) is managing the Duensing Go Fund Me fund and will make monthly payments to Kelso Trust as needed. Please note these donations are not tax deductible.)
