My name's Kelsey and I’ve battled IBS and Ulcerative Colitis for 5 years. This past summer, I had a major flareup and was in the hospital for nearly a month due to chronic dehydration and extreme muscle weakness.

I have to use a motorized wheelchair now as I've lost the ability to walk and have limited use of my arms. I need regular at-home care to manage basic daily tasks and require ongoing treatment including IV therapy to control my symptoms.

The decline in my health has made it difficult to work and I have limited financial resources. I have not been approved for disability yet and the process can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Medicaid acts mainly as health insurance and the program I qualify for to cover at-home care has a 2-to-5-year waiting list.
