Kelly Collins (daughter of Joan Marie Bolding) is a 24 year old first grade teacher at Wilson Creek Elementary School in Johns Creek Georgia. She is a recent graduate of Georgia College and State University where she studied to become a teacher. She was an active student in college and was a member of the Phi Mu sorority. Kelly loved her time in school and is looking forward to her life ahead as a teacher.
Last month Kelly discovered a lump in her breast and immediately went to the doctor to have it checked out. Everyone was stunned when the diagnosis came back as an aggressive form of stage two triple negative breast cancer. Kelly is so young and there is no history of breast cancer on either side of her family.
With that ugly diagnosis behind her, Kelly is now preparing to fight and win this battle. She will soon start months of chemotherapy treatments. After the chemotherapy treatments are over, a decision will be made to see if radiation is necessary. Kelly has decided to have a double mastectomy as soon as she is able. Being the “planner” that Kelly is, she is preparing to buy a wig for her eventual hair loss and she has been completing fertility shots to harvest and freeze some of her eggs in case this treatment causes any infertility issues.
We are reaching out on behalf of Kelly to seek donations to help pay for medical bills (that have already started rolling in) and other expenses the insurance company doesn’t cover. Kelly is only 24 and it’s difficult to save money on a teacher’s salary! Any donation you could make will be greatly appreciated.
