Kelbie was born with a Congenital Heart Defect. She has a form of Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome called Double Inlet Left Ventricle with Pulmonary Stenosis, or commonly referred to as "Half a heart."
Kelbie was born on May 28, 2014, she had a heart catherization performed on June 5th, followed by a second one on September 5th.
On October 3rd, she underwent her first open heart surgery known as the Glenn Procedure. During this surgery, they rerouted her circulation by connecting the pulmonary artery directly to the superior vena cava so that the blood is going directly to her lungs passively through a shunt rather than her heart pumping blood to her lungs. This will take some of the workload off of her heart. They also did an atrial septectomy by removing the tissue between her atriums, making one large atrium. The surgeon decided to band off her pulmonary valve because there was too much obstruction due to her stenosis. During the operation, a complete heart block was experienced, where the upper and lower chambers stopped responding to one another. This resulted with a pacemaker being put in place, which will have to stay in for the rest of Kelbie's life.

After living at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas for 5 months, Kelbie is finally back home in Midland, Texas spending time with her big brother Bryson and parents, Kenneth and Jessica. She will have to have another open heart surgery (Fontan Procedure) performed when she is 3 years old. The Fontan Procedure, and operations to maintain the pacemaker, will be the last surgeries she needs!
Please help us reach our goal to benefit little Miss Kelbie and her family during this time!
