Help for a family facing eviction on January 1st.

-December 28th update: Apparently it’s too late. Even though they finally put an eviction extension through, it’s just too late. A judge already ordered my eviction set for January 1st. So unless I have a lawyer who can file an injunction and stop the eviction and request a new hearing, not a whole lot I can do. Lawyers are all gone on Christmas vacation, legal aid hasn’t returned a call or email yet. I can’t get ahold of anyone. There’s no where to go, no one has places open. Hotels are $400 a week (they’re charging me PER child). This just feels so hopeless. How did they expect me to leave quarantine on the 20th, come to court on the 21st, and be financially and reasonably prepared to move within a week- all through a double holiday week!!!! No one is even available to speak with any where! We didn’t ask to be laid off. We didn’t ask to get Covid. We didn’t want to lose everything. Yet here we are being put out on New Years Day, a government holiday. I’m beyond shocked right now. Please help if you can, share if you can, pray if you can, or send my email address to a lawyer who is willing to speak with me immediately, I don’t know what else to do. Teamshadron at Gmail. Thanks and god bless Recent Update: We had our court date on December 21st at 3pm in Catoosa County Magistrate court. The judge ordered us out on January 1st. Unless Congress passes a sweeping eviction ban, we have no hope. He also ordered I pay him more rent than I even owed, despite offering proof to the contrary. I also proved Micheal lied under oath several times, and even him having 2 warrants out for his arrest, somehow he was allowed to come into court and gain the benefit of the law, while demonstrating that he has no morals or integrity to uphold the very laws and justice system he sought to gain the benefit of. Hypocrisy at its finest. I’m beyond upset, but, the silver lining is that Miss Bliss from our local news station is contacting me to do a piece on our story- and likely several other families stories- who are facing the same looming deadline, and hopelessness. -I received the legal eviction notice 24 hours after creating this fundraiser, along with a letter explaining that they’ll no longer be honoring eviction stays, it seems. I will update the fundraiser to include photos of the forms I have been given. -My name is, Christina. I’m a mother with 2 babies at home, (one is immune compromised). Like many families in America, we are suffering and struggling to keep our heads above water after the lay-offs and shut downs. Locally, (Chattanooga/Ringgold area) we have been hit pretty hard. Though mandates are being lifted, and things are picking up, for us the damage is done and we have already lost everything. When I say everything, I do mean everything. The car, the phones, the internet, the nice furniture, the games, etc. I pinched pennies and sold everything to keep afloat as long as I could. Unfortunately, with cases surging locally after the mask mandate was lifted, and so many people already in dire straights by the time things started to shift (like myself) , there’s just not enough resources to go around and not enough time to wait for funds to become available. I am days from being homeless. To keep the lights and water on, I had to make a choice of what to pay with what little money I had. I just couldn’t afford rent, utilities, vehicle payments, internet, diapers, wipes, etc. It wasn’t possible. Now I’m in a corner, facing eviction with no where to go and no meaningful or timely resources to help. If not for the borrowed WiFi signal from a kind neighbor, I wouldn’t even be able to create this fundraiser. I’ve exhausted all the phone numbers, advice, FB groups, income based housing options, section-8, food pantries, churches, etc. If you view the GA government website for Section 8, you’ll see that they have closed the application portal and say they are no longer accepting applications. There is just too many of us right now, and the funds and grants from the last Stimulus are all long gone. If you view the page of available grants for those effected by Covid- you’ll see only grants for “Substance Abuse” are available. Everything else is gone. Even churches are out of funding and say to try next month. We don’t have til next month, we have 7 days from the day we were served the eviction notice. I’m told months long waiting lines at a minimum, and I just don’t have that much time. So this is my last ditch plea for help. Having no car, no cell service, no child care, no nearby family or friends (they couldn’t help even if they were nearby), I’m just simply stuck and I need a miracle. Ive calculated that first months rent for a new home, plus deposit, and an additional month of rent to ensure I’ve got 2 months to get back on top- total around $1,650 (I included $50 to get a phone so that I can receive calls for jobs, etc). If you can help, please do. This is all I can think to do that might save me from being on the streets. I thank you for taking the time to read my fundraiser. Have a blessed day, and if you can, pray for us. Lord knows we need it. Thank you
