Keep Teal Housed During Unemployment!
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Teal, and I am a Black trans artist, writer, and poet, and I also work in collage. When I'm not writing my next "greatest hits" song or singing in the shower, I'm hanging out with my cats, the Cheese Bois Gouda and Munster. I'm recovering from a period of prolonged financial hardship, and despite this have recently had to make the impossible decision to go on unpaid medical leave in order to maintain my health. Now that this unpaid leave is up, I have been let go from my job, and am now unemployed, looking for new work.
I urgently need your support with covering my basic expenses so that I can regain financial stability and avoid the trauma of losing my housing.
Surviving racism in my day-to-day has taken a toll on my mental health and on my wallet! I have been targeted by predatory financial institutions and had to deal with anti-Black racism in virtually every environment I've been in. I am profoundly exhausted. It's time for me to stabilize, and set up systems that will help me thrive in the long-term. Asking for help is one of several strategies I am putting in place for my immediate and future well-being.
These funds will help me cover several months' worth of expenses, including:
- Rent
- Utilities
- Groceries
- Medications
- Pet care
- Car expenses
Thank you so much for contributing what you can. Black trans people like me deserve security and stability, and when we have it we can better share our gifts with the world; show up for our communities; create art, and spread joy. Enjoy some of my collage art below!
