Keep High Low's doors open!

High Low Beverage Company is an all-day bar specializing in craft beer, locally-roasted coffee, natural wine, cocktails, and Vietnamese-influenced pastries and snacks. Beyond that, it is a beautiful space that brings vibrance to the street with some of the friendliest staff ever.
Opening a (small? local? independent?) bar/restaurant is never easy, but doing so this past year has been extremely difficult. Yet, somehow, our friends at High Low have managed to take it all in stride, ensuring the safety of their clientele and staff at every step of the way. In doing so they have quickly become a haven for locals searching for sweet relief from the turmoil of this past year. Personally, they are fantastic neighbors who have offered me comfort (and soup) when I've needed it most, and I have been dying to pay it forward.
Unfortunately as the hits keep coming, our dear friends have found themselves at a particularly tricky impasse and need our help to keep their doors open.
I've organized this gofundme for High Low for the following reasons:
- Since opening in May 2020, they have not been eligible for any PPP or EIDL relief to date. Because they opened in the midst of the pandemic, they cannot prove that they have suffered losses, and thus cannot receive any government funds. I think we all know that this alone would be a death sentence for almost any business right now.
- Despite just finalizing buildout on the bar, due to regulations on indoor dining they immediately experienced another round of unexpected yet necessary costs to build out two amazing outdoor spaces that adhere to all safety regulations.
- They have been burglarized twice, dealing with property loss and damages that were still lower than their deductible which means that those losses and damages were recovered out of their own pockets.
- Most recently, they have had to furlough half of their staff just to make ends meet. The owners have been working nearly day for the past 8 months with no pay and no tips, using any remaining revenue to keep the business afloat.
The money raised from this gofundme will go directly to business costs, primarily for a new rolling gate to prevent further burglaries and employee payroll. We want to be clear that we know everyone is struggling, and there are certainly more important issues to be concerned with. However, there is something so special about this place that only deserves the chance to survive the pandemic and see the success it is destined for.
If you have anything to spare, it would be incredibly appreciated.
