Donations for KAY's CARE

        To whom it may concern:                                                                      My name is Amanda Cook and I am the daughter of Kay Cook and Lt.Col. James Cook(deceased) of Vernon, Texas. Since my fathers death in 1991 it has been mom and I against the world. Then 13 years ago she fell down a flight of stairs and broke her neck. Her condition has deteriorated to such an extent that she requires a powerchair everywhere she goes 24/7. I have been her fulltime caregiver for those 13 years. The most recent issue concerning her health was in May 2015 when she developed a bleed causing two blood clots in the back of her brain. This has provided an entirely new set of problems for us both. Frankly she has been having hallucinations. She gets easily confused as to what is real and what is not real and her short tem memory is severly compromised. The doctors don't know if it is permanent that is unclear at this point in time.  We are unfortunately unable to afford all the expenses that have come with of her care. The cost of her prescriptions alone has also increased $500 a month since the blood clots in her brain and that is just the new medications. Medications she cannot live without. That doesn't include the $200/$300 for the 12 prescriptions she was already taking. I can't tell you how necesssary this money will be for her health and my peace of mind. I'm new to Facebook and have never heard of "go fund me" before today so please excuse me if this request is out of line.  The money is needed as soon as possible so as not to lose our apartment and keep our eletricity on. My mom has been there everystep of the way for me no matter what.  I promised my Daddy on his death bed I would take care of my Mom after he was gone...Please, I need your help to keep my promise to him.  Also , there is a storage unit filled with 100s if not 1000s of pictures from almost every VRJC Theatre Ensemble Show and some special family items too. It would break my mother's heart to lose all those wonderful memories and for me to lose those beautiful, silly and unique memories of my childhood. Both of my folks believed that best thing anyone can do is pay it forward. Please help me give back just some of the love my Mom has paid foward for all those 32 years of teaching.  Any little bit will help. I would be forever greatful and happy to do what I can to work off the debt. Please know you all have our love and fondest thoughts. Thank you. Just knowing you all has enriched our lives more than you will ever know.
