Katie Haptonstall Needs Your Help!

It has been nearly 2 years since my wife, Katie, suffered multiple, catastrophic injuries. Among her lifelong injuries sustained that day was the amputation of both of her legs due to both of them being shattered, a pelvis shattered in multiple places, a fractured neck, a permanent colostomy and super pubic catheter, a heart stint, a fractured liver and badly injured kidneys that required temporary dialysis, punctured lungs, broken ribs, a brain bleed, countless infections...just to name a few. She survived despite a less than 1% chance given to her by her team of doctors. After months in the hospital and a year and a half (and counting) of daily care she still fights. She has an inner strength I do not possess. She is home bound and, with rare exceptions, bed bound. She requires 24/7 care. The emotional and financial toll on her, us, as well as our families and friends, is beyond explanation. We've used and sold everything we have to make ends meet. So have our family and friends. We are out of resources to sustain her care, medicine, medical equipment, extensive bills, etc. We have tried to avoid asking for help out of pride and determination to make it on our own but are forced into a situation where reaching out for your help is currently and realistically the only way to keep fighting this sad, unfortunate battle. Katie must have a purpose here to survive what she has survived. We've have never asked for help and are struggling to do so still. We feel shame in asking for help but now have no choice. The truth is without help financially there isn't a realistic way forward. We have nothing left. We want Katie to be able to fulfill whatever purpose she survived to fulfill but can't do it alone any more. If you are able and willing to give something, anything, then maybe, just maybe, we can reach the end of our journey and try to pick up our shattered lives.
