Medical Expenses
This is for our good friend Kathy V.
She is documenting her current medical issues here. Be warned, this is graphic and diffcult to look at. I only post this in the hope that you will read her whole story and consider helping.

We are doing all we can to help but she needs your help too. Kat is that person who always remembers your birthday, your anniversary, your dogs name and brings you cupcakes when you're having a bad day. Everyone how knows her, knows how giving and caring she is.
Now, it is our turn to do something for her.
Though no fault of her own she is in need of our help for medical expenses. I hope you will take the time to read about our friends story and find it in your heart to help.
Many of you know that Kat gave up her long career as a stylist to pursure her dreams of traveling the world by working for a major airline. About a year ago, shortly after making her dream a reality, she got ill and was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure, she was placed on dialysis and she was in need of a kidney transplant. Miraculously, a dear friend was a compatible donor and selflessly gave a kidney to Kat. Her career was put on hold while she received the transplant and spent several months recovering. Due to her short time on the new job, she was not eligible for long term disability and had to work through many of the medical and living expenses without the benefit of insurance or supplimental income. Sounds bad right? Well, actually she was doing great and was scheduled to go back to work June of 2017, nearly a year after this all began.
So, why are we here?
About 3 weeks ago, Kat was attacked by a loose pit bull and was badly bitten in her left calf. Due to the combination of her anti-rejection drugs and some poor care decisions by the initial doctors in the ER, her leg became very bady infected. Kat was admitted to the hospital twice within two weeks as the doctors fought to save her leg from this horrible infection.
Kat has medicare but no income and her return to work has been denied by the doctors at this point. Currently she needs to continue her medications for her kidney transplant and now everything associated with her leg injury.
Her leg is out of danger but she spends two hours a day in a hyperbaric chamber and needs IV antibiotics for several more weeks to ensure her leg will heal properly.
What is the money for?
Kat needs the money for her daily medications and her living expenses until she can return to work. She has been off work for 8 months at this point. She is staying with friends while she works on healing her leg. Without insurance she is responsible for 20% of all her medications and much of the treatment.
Kat is in need. She got a bad deal with the kidneys and could have made it though that if she could have gone back to work in June. This dog bite thing is the straw that broke the camels back.
Thank you for reading this, any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Any funds not used for her medical care will be donated to the National Kidney Foundation and the Humane Society.
