Kathy Young Memorial - Love on a Leash

As most of you know, Kathy really loved animals.  She also loved people and had a huge heart.  Love on a Leash gave Kathy the opportunity to help so many people by sharing her dog Remington (Remi) with other people who needed a little love and compassion.  She visited Alzheimer patients at nursing homes, small children dealing with major illness at the Ronald McDonald house, troubled teens at the Juvenile Detention Center, colleges going through final exams and anywhere else where a group of compassionate adults with loving dogs could provide a sense of peace and tranquility.  I often said Remi was just a free ticket she used to get into the facility, whichever one she was visiting, so that she could go in and help others.  When she would come home after these events she was so wound up with stories, everything from a four year old girl dying from cancer who was moving Remi’s lips and pretending Remi was talking, to an older gentleman who never remembered the names of any of his family members but always remembered Remi’s name and would yell for Remi to come see him.

Kathy and her friends at Love on a Leash are the true definition of “Angels on Earth”.  They do this multiple times per week and to see and hear the love they shared was truly a blessing.  Kathy really enjoyed her times helping others and was always willing to participate in an event.  So was Remi.  Remi is a 100+ pound Doberman with a big heart that really loved people.  She made you like her even if you were afraid.

Kathy would appreciate any donation made to Love on a Leash on her behalf.  She loved that place and was filled with joy every time she got the opportunity to help someone.  That’s just who she was.  Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause and in Kathy’s honor.
