Kate's Campaign

Donation protected

I'm Jessica; our family is raising money for my daughter, Katie.
Katie is currently being treated for severe malnutrition; when she was admitted to the hospital last week her heart rate was in the low 30's, her blood pressure was extremely low, she was dehydrated and near hypothermic with a body temperature nearing 94 degrees. How did this happen to our daughter?
In August 2014 our world changed forever when Katie was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa. It happened suddenly and drastically. We never knew much about any eating disorder; how its the leading mental illness with the highest death rate, how it deteriorates the body and manipulates the mind; we never knew any of this until it happened to our daughter.
Katie, now 15, was diagnosed and went through a year of treatment, appeared to have recovered, but is now in the hospital fighting her hardest battle.
All donations will fund her continuing medical and psychological treatment.
Anyone who has had an eating disorder, or watched someone suffer from an Eating Disorder, knows how brutally painful it is emotionally, physically, mentally and financially (most insurance companies don't cover extensive treatment of eating disorders).
There are so many false stereotypes that only perpetuate the stigma of this disease. Any and all donations will provide peace of mind so we can focus on caring for Katie while also providing hope that there is understanding and compassion for those who suffer, like our daughter, with this devastating illness.
There are no words to express the immense gratitude we feel for your generosity. We can only say, with the deepest sincerity, "Thank you".

A little about Katie:
